McLean, VA (PRWEB) June 14, 2010

Recommended Reading, Inc., unveiled a new suite of digital media publishing channel tools and services from Mixx.com today to help publishers and brands engage with social media in a more relevant way. Companies and organizations already using this platform include the NHL, the NBA, Duke University, the USGA, the DNA Foundation, the United Nations, and Nexstar Broadcasting among others. The most recent channel launched today on usopen.com in conjunction with the USGA. Partners use Mixx in two ways:

Mixx Channels Channels enable publishers to make social media relevant to them, by integrating a branded interface that sits within their website and aggregates topical conversations and shared news stories, images, and videos from services including Twitter, Facebook, Digg, and Mixx.

Mixx SiteBox SiteBox is an embeddable module that shows what news stories, photos, and videos from a particular publisher are most popular across social media sites including Twitter, Facebook, and Digg, including links shortened by third-party services.

According to The Edison Research/Arbitron Internet and Multimedia Study conducted in April, social media has evolved to become an integral part of Americans lives. In 2010, almost 90 percent of Americans were aware of services such as Facebook and Twitter. 48 percent of Americans have some form of a social networking profile.

We created the Mixx toolkit to satisfy the demand of our publisher partners, said Chris McGill, founder and CEO of Recommended Reading. They know that social media is critical for them to better engage with their users, but need new tools to harness that activity in a relevant, scalable way.

Mixx also allows publishers to produce large amounts of topical social media content to complement their editorial offerings, giving them deeper, richer web offerings for their users.

The new Mixx products build upon the previous success of Mixxs publishing capabilities and take them the next logical step forward.

“We have found Mixx to be a very valuable solution for aggregating content on the web.
